Under a state Assembly bill that is being proposed, parents who drive drunk and have an accident with young children in the car could now face even tougher penalties. If approved, the adult would be guilty of a fourth-degree crime carrying a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and a fine upwards of $10,000.

Monte Brown of Williamstown, NJ was driving drunk when he crashed his car on Route 42, killing one passenger and injuring himself as well as another passenger. Itay Massoquoi, a 29-year-old Williamstown resident was ejected from the vehicle when it spun out of control, hitting some trees and then overturning. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brown will most likely face more charges for the accident which happened Saturday around 5:30 in the afternoon.
