All over New Jersey, police officers are cracking down on drunk drivers with the, “Over The Limit, Under Arrest” campaign.
Between December 7th through January 3rd, high concentrations of police officers will conduct patrols and sobriety checkpoints trying to eliminate those people who decided to drink and drive.
According to the Salem County Sunbeam, “Impaired drivers kill nearly 18,000 people on our nation’s roadways each year, according to the news release. In 2008, 152 people were killed as a result of alcohol-related crashes in New Jersey. That number represents 26 percent of the 590 traffic fatalities reported in the state.”
Also only in the state of New Jersey, drivers may dial #77 on their cell phones to report drunk drivers to the police. #77 is the Aggressive Driver System used to report erratic or dangerous drivers, including anyone driving drunk.Share on Facebook
