Minnesota’s assistant coach, Saul Smith, son of Tubby Smith, has been placed on unpaid leave from the team following his arrest for DUI.
The 32 year-old was arrested Saturday morning after leaving a nearby restaurant. He is due in court on December 3rd to face his charges.
The school’s athletic director, Norwood Teague, along with coach Tubby Smith, decided to suspend the younger Smith saying the school’s values, “dictate that our coaches and staff be positive role models for our student-athletes.”
